Available in a variety of colors. These EC headsets are for frames with external bearing cups, which places the bearing outside of the frame with these headsets. The GeoShift Performance Angle Headset allows you to adjust the geometry of your bike by changing the head tube angle, available in 1 or 2 degree options. This unique design lets the bearings sit at an angle to align with the steerer tube, preventing creaking noises commonly found with angle headsets that feature a spherical design. Reduce the head tube angle to make for slacker geometry and added stability on fast descents, or increase the angle using the opposite orientation of the headset, to make for steeper geometry and quicker steering with maximum front wheel traction. - Enduro black oxide coated chromium steel bearing included on both the upper and lower - Upper headsets ship with a star nut which can only be used on forks with steel or aluminum steerer tubes. These ZS headsets are for frames with internal bearing cups that are pressed into the frame. Premium Headsets with Enduro stainless steel bearings have a lifetime warranty. Upper assembly features: - Ultralight stem cap with integrated spacer plus an aluminum bolt and a star nut. - 6, 15, and 25 mm stack height top cover options (6mm cover = 6mm total stack, 15mm cover = 15 total stack, 25mm cover = 25mm total stack). - O-ring seal prevents water intrusion around the steerer tube. - Custom-molded upper lip seal provides additional protection for the upper bearing.

Why We Make This The simple answer is that many contemporary bicycle frame designs call for the headset bearings to ride inside the frame's headtube. After decades of making press-in bearing headsets, we needed to make headsets that worked in these newer frames. From the beginning we understood that integrated headsets posed a unique challenge in that the bearings are not pressed into a cup and sit loosely in the frame. When bearings are not pressed securely into a cup they shift and move, rapidly losing preload. As preload drops, the bearings are more susceptible to creaking, damage, and failure.
